CAREGIVER REQUIREMENTS
The Live-In Caregiver Program is the official name
given by the Canadian Government which allows us to
help caregivers from abroad to legally work in Canada.
As the name implies, the caregiver is required to live
in with the employer in his/her respective home. This
program was created to meet the growing need of Canadian
families seeking for help to provide care to their loved
ones (children, elderly, disabled) and make their life
meaningful and at best.
CAREGIVER REQUIREMENTS
The applicant must have completed the Live-In Caregiver
Program and must possess a Caregiver Certificate from
a reputable and accredited training school licensed
by the foreign government and recognized by the Canadian
Embassy from that country. (For Philippine applicants,
the school must be an accredited training facility and
approved by the Technical Education Skills Development
Authority or TESDA.
Exemptions: The following are exempted from the Caregiver
Certificate under the Live-in Care Giver Program: Nurses/Nursing
Graduates with Experience; Midwifery Graduates with
Experience; School Teachers with working Experience;
and those who have worked abroad as a domestic helper
for at least one year.
Before submitting the Caregiver Application, the following
pre-requisite requirements must be met by the applicant:
1. Must be able to read, speak and understand English.
2. Must have the equivalent North American Grade 12
(13 years of education).
Applicants from the Philippines must have successfully
completed high school and a two year full time college
program equal to 72 units.
3. Must have proof of work and educational experiences
stated on the application.
4. Must have attended CPR and First Aid classes and
earned a certificate.
5. Must be able to provide employer with a police clearance.
6. Must be able to provide employer with a health certificate.
7. Must have attended and completed the six month caregiver
training program and
present a Certificate.
8. Must be able to prove that the training center or
school is an accredited training facility and recognized
and approved by the government of your country.
